Producing General Manager

Oregon Cabaret Theatre in Ashland, Oregon is seeking full-time General Manager. OCT is a for-profit theatre-restaurant operating year-round with $1.2M budget. GM serves as head of Administration, Finance, Marketing & Audience Development, Human Resources, IT and Office Management. GM works in collaboration with Producing Artistic Director on all theatre and restaurant matters. GM heads the Leadership Team and is immediate supervisor for Box Office Manager, Restaurant Manager, Kitchen Manager, Bookkeeper, Production Stage Manager and Building Manager.

Specific responsibilities include: preparation and management of annual budget, supervising bookkeeping and accounting operations; developing and monitoring marketing and audience development in coordination with Box Office Manager; supervising and implementing all advertising and promotion including season brochure, print and media ads, website; supervising and implementing employee insurance plan; overseeing all office and computer-related operations; supervising restaurant and kitchen operations in cooperation with Restaurant and Kitchen Managers; supervising all physical plant issues in cooperation with owner and Building Manager.

Position requires extensive experience in management, finance, marketing, office operations and IT. Theatre and restaurant experience highly desirable. Excellent communication and leadership skills with a Team Management approach. Modest salary and medical benefits.

  • Maintains customer relations.
  • Oversees and implements staff medical insurance.
  • Liaison to SAIF, insurance company, hospital or doctor in the event of an accident; follow-up with patron/employee.
  • Oversees all computers and computer-related programs including intra-Cabaret communication and database management.
  • Liaison to computer ticketing program administrators.
  • Oversees voice mail and e-mail operation.
  • Maintains archival materials.
  • Sign for OCT accounts and payroll & business checks.
  • Education should reflect thorough knowledge of financial management, business practices, leadership training, business-related legal issues, restaurant management, employee management, promotion and marketing.
  • Partial Health Insurance.
  • Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off
