Casting for 2010 Season
Oregon Cabaret Theatre is a professional non-equity theatre in Ashland, Oregon, just one block from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Our theatre is unique and elegant, housed in a beautifully renovated church with table-seating on tiered levels and balcony. 2010 is our 25th season and we have built a reputation for producing top-quality shows with superb talent and high production values.
Salary is $1600-1700/month. Out-of-town actors receive $500/month housing stipend and $200 travel allowance (or round-trip plane ticket).
2010 Season Auditions at Oregon Cabaret Theatre
Ashland's Oregon Cabaret Theatre will be holding auditions for its 2010 season productions on Saturday, February 13 beginning at 2:00 pm in its theatre on First St & Hargadine in Ashland. All shows require very strong, experienced actor-singers with good movement skills and actors must be available for daytime rehearsals and evening performances. For audition appointment please write to jim@oregoncabaret.com and attach photo and resume. Auditioners will present two contrasting songs (32 bars each) and one contemporary monologue - 5 minutes total.
Red, White and Tuna
Non-musical. 2 actors play 24 characters in quick-change comedy set in small town in Texas

Whodunit ... The Musical
Musical comedy murder mystery set in 1930s

Rehearsals begin March 17; run is April 7 through May 30

Carries Innes wealthy, stylish woman of about 50; Thomas Johnson (English butler)/Mysterious Stranger dual role for mature male actor; Liddy Allen cranky, comic, Cockney ladies' maid; Sally Innes Carrie's ingιnue niece in her twenties (soprano); Jack Bailey/Zara young male actor doubling as Sally's beau Jack and Zara the fortune-telling gypsy groundskeeper; Mr. Jarvis - the austere local detective, mature male, bass-baritone.

Musical revue songs and sketches about male-female relationships

2 males, 2 females (20s-30s), all very strong singer-actors
The Wizard of Panto-Land
An original musical in the style of British Pantos: Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion lost on the Yellow Brick Road, wandering into other fairy tales and having encounters with various witches and wizards

Rehearsals begin Oct 27; run is Nov 17 through Dec 31

All actors must be strong singer-dancers and comic actors. Dorothy spunky ingenue; Scarecrow sweet, not too bright, strong mover-dancer; Tin Man has more heart than he thinks he does, good movement skills; Lion, a scaredy cat who finds hidden resources of courage; Witch/Wizard actor to play multiple witch and wizard characters, versatile comic actor-singer. Cross-dressing is an intrinsic part of Panto so any of these characters may be cast gender-blind.
