Casting for 2014 Season
Oregon Cabaret Theatre is a professional non-Equity theatre in Ashland, Oregon, just one block from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Our theatre is unique and elegant, housed in a beautifully renovated church with table-seating on tiered levels and balcony. 2014 is our 29th season and we have built a reputation for producing top-quality shows with superb talent and high production values.
Salary is $1700/month. Out-of-town actors receive $600/month housing stipend and $300 travel allowance (or round-trip plane ticket).

A new two-man quick-change musical created by Jim & Bob Walton. Two song-writing brothers are brought to Hollywood in the early 1940s. It’s a high-energy, fast-paced tour-de-farce for two multi-talented actors.
Rehearsals begin January 13. Run is February 5 through March 30 (5 perf/week)
Casting: 2 male actors to play brothers. Both must be very strong singers, great dancers and versatile actors who each play 5 characters. Ability to play piano is also a plus.
The Marvelous Wonderettes: CAPS & GOWNS
The third in the series of Wonderettes shows by Roger Bean. Act I is at graduation in 1958, Act II is at Missy’s wedding in 1968. Revue with dialogue. 50s-60s pop songs.
Rehearsals begin March 19. Run is April 9 through May 25 (6 perf/week)
Casting: 4 female singer-actors (20s) with strong movement skills. Must be very strong pop singers skilled at tight harmony.
Sparkling revue of Fats Waller music from the 20s & 30s.
Rehearsals begin May 14. Run is June 4 through August 31 (7 perf/week)
Casting: 2 men, 3 women; African-American; excellent singer-actors with great dance and comedic skills.
BACKWARDS IN HIGH HEELS
Biographical musical about life and career of Ginger Rogers featuring both classic and original songs.
Rehearsals begin August 20. Run is September 10 through November 9 (6 perf/week)
Casting: Ginger Rogers (from teens to age 40); Lela (Ginger’s mother – 40s); Woman #3 (dance chorus and plays various characters including Ethel Merman); 3 male singer-dancer-actors (chorus dancers who also play multiple roles including husbands, studio personnel; one plays Fred Astaire). All must be very strong and versatile singer-actor-dancers with excellent tap skills.
IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE – Live Radio Play
Script of the classic Frank Capra film presented as a live radio play in the 40s with five actors playing multiple roles and creating sound-effects.
Rehearsals begin October 29. Run is November 19 through December 31 (approx. 7 perf/week).
Casting: 5 versatile actor-singers (3 male, 2 female) to play multiple characters; also sing Christmas songs.
